Hello fellow Izanians,
I just read a great book, "Success Is Not An Accident" by Tommy Newberry. As 2009 approaches, I always start reflecting on what changes I need to make to accomplish my business goals around this time of year.
As I asked myself the question, "why didn't I meet a particular goal yet in 2008", I found myself making excuses and setting limits on my ability to make it happen. In his book, Tommy writes, "It's difficult to become goal directed in a world that is centered on limitations".
After reading that statement, I realized that part of why I haven't accomplished my goals is because I've allowed districtions and placed limits on myself without realizing it. So, here's a quick outline I came up with for myself in taking action on my goals that I know will be useful to others:
- Take a look at my vision to ensure that my goals are in alignment with it. Goals are meant to support your overall vision, so if they aren't your vision won't be accomplished.
- Break down my goals into action tasks and place each task in a time slot in my planner. Double pad the amount of time that I think it will take to accomplish the task.
- Identify any challenges that will prevent me from accomplishing my goals.
- Hold myself accountable by reviewing my tasks progress daily.
- Eliminate in personal habits that are preventing me from accomplishing my goals.
- Create an affirmation statement for myself that I will memorize and repeat daily or as often as I need to.
What's holding you back from accomplishing your goals? Are you placing limits on yourself? Have you started setting your business goals for 2009? We are meant to be great, let's claim our wealth and make it happen!
Here's to your success!
