    by Scott Woods inPolitical on2020-08-13

For me, politics is like hiring a hitman. I have values and things I care about. I care enough about them to at least bother voting for 5 minutes every year for one issue or another. And because I care at least that much, I vote for people who align with the ability to realize the things I care about.

I believe our vote is the punctuation of our voice. Without that resounding exclamation mark, I believe our voices are just incoherent noise.

  • Living in a Black No-Man's Land
by Roger Madison Jr. inOur Community on2019-10-28

There are many narratives that define the Black experience in America in this 2nd decade of the 21st century. Our striving over the centuries of our sojourn in this nation is a tapestry of every human experience -- oppression, enslavement, forced assimilation, dehumanization, exclusion, segregation, isolation, struggle, perseverance, achievement, excellence, celebration, mourning, despair, progress, setbacks, lynching, assassination, genocide, terror, self-hatred, low esteem, pride,...

  • Fighting Racism
by Scott Woods inOur Community on2018-10-25

I had a boss who was racist. Not an outright bigot, of course; her toolbox was more subtle than most. We bumped heads a lot over inconsequential things. She frequently couldn’t keep my name out her mouth. Lot of gaslighting. You know…2018 style. I tried a lot of ways to combat or navigate her issues. Food For Thought: How To Proceed

It's not going to happen with the wave of a magic wand or wishing to win lotto. No fairy Godmother is going to come and change us. that's not realistic or real life. If you want change, simply change your mind. Change your thought process, your outlook on life. Half full versus half empty. Enjoy the journey towards your goal and dream. The reward is how you get there, not the prize. If you build your life with the end in mind, making every step champagne and caviar and by paying attention to the details your house will be in order and you will be fine.
Move your mind off of your circumstances and onto who you are and where you are going. Your reality will change.
Faith. Jesus said if you have a mustard seed of faith you can move a mountain. A mustard seed is a small as this . period on this page.
Any thought with 100% faith and belief that it will come true will change the direction of your ship and propel you quickly to your dreams.
In the here and now is all power and influence.
Reality is in this moment. Not yesterday or the past.
God is also in the present in this second answering the desires of your heart as your heart manifest them.
Without speaking your spirit is communicating to God your needs. He sees you in his mind eye. According to John 10:27-30 you are in Jesus's hand and God, nothing can or will snatch you from them. Therefore nothing can remove the hedge of protection, love or grace from God has around your life.
Peace.
Peace comes when you stop believing in the fake phony fairy tale solutions and go for the one genuine thing. Unfailable, undeniable, constant, omnipresent and true: GOD.
What then do we pray for?
How do we change our circumstances so that we meet our goals for 2009?
Take a deep breath. Breathe. Then exhale. Know that God is in control. Enjoy the journey. You do your part. Show up, dress right, have your resources and supplies read. Be ready to receive your blessings for it surely will come.
Pray for wisdom and discernment. A deeper relationship with God, Jesus and the holy spirit. And the rest will be added unto you.
Remember you are very special and to stay blessed!
