In some very sad news the African American book chain Karibu Books is shutting down. The Washington based retailer will be closing it's five stores. Ironically the rise of black authors or more importantly the sales they now generate hurt niche stores such as Karibu Books. Because of those sales numbers major retail chains and discount stores began to carry the books making them much more available to the public and are able to sell them at a discount.
