Now many African Americans may not be shocked at that predominantly white juries are much more likely to find black defendants guilty. It may not be surprising to know that prosecuters know this and try very hard to stack the jury with whites.
But what is shocking is the attitudes of many defense lawyers about defending a black client. This is a excerpt from an article by Earl Ofari Hutchinson of New America Media.
"Some defense attorneys flatly told researchers after the Chicago Reporter study came out that they would much rather defend a white defendant. Then they only have to battle against prosecutors, and not the sneaky and overt racial attitudes of many white jurors."
