Over 650,000 votes were casted from 130 countries worldwide decided to "Vote Their Love" and cast their ballots in the Second Annual Black Web Awards. A full list of winners can be viewed at http://www.BlackWebAwards.com. The winning websites went through a six month competition. Each website was nominated by somebody from the Online Community. These "at large nominees" are then reviewed by the BlackWebAwards.com Academy of Judges, a volunteer group from all walks of life. The Academy reviews and grades the nominees against 10 categories. The categories include Website Navigation, Cultural Relevance and Vibrancy. That review results in a composite score (with 100 being perfect or excellent). The top five to seven sites in each category are then recognized and announced as Official Nominees. The nominees are then introduced. The site that received more vote was selected the best in each of the 98 available categories.
Winners included BET.com, BlackEnterprise.com, Radio-One.com, and iZania.com. Entertainers and musicians were also embraced, as R&B artist Common and Rihanna, Actors Samuel L. Jackson and Boris Kodjoe, athletes Tiger Woods and Serena Williams and comedian Monique all won awards.
