I came across the following at: http://hoaxbusters.ciac.org/HoaxBustersHome.html on the Internet and had a great laugh. I post it here for others to enjoy after adding my own number eleven. lol
“With the never-ending array of bogus e-mails in use today, there has emerged a new breed of victims. So taken with the power of a hoax, these victims have fast become blatant, albeit unintentional, junk-mail peddlers. Those so afflicted daily cram the mailboxes of friends, business associates, and relatives with pure crap. Those suffering from this affliction should repeat the following affirmations as often as needed:
- There is NO SUCH THING as an e-mail tracking program, and I am not STUPID enough to think that someone will send me $100 for forwarding an e-mail to 10 or more people!
- The Ford Motor Company will NOT give me a 50% discount even if I forward my e-mail to more than 50 people!
- I will NEVER receive gift certificates, coupons, or freebies from Coca Cola, Cracker Barrel, Old Navy, or anyone else if I send an e-mail to 10 or more people.
- There is NO kid with cancer through the Make-a-Wish program in England collecting anything! He did when he was 7 years old. He is now cancer free and 35 years old and DOESN'T WANT ANY MORE POST CARDS, or GET- WELL CARDS.
- The government does not have a bill in Congress called 901B (or whatever they named it this week) that, if passed, will enable them to charge us 5 cents for every e-mail we send.
- The American Red Cross will NOT donate 50 cents to certain individual dying of some never-heard-of disease for every e-mail address I send this to.
- Regardless of how many e-mails I forward to my friends and relatives, I will never be rewarded with a COOL message, SPECIAL gift, or FANTASTIC prize for my efforts.
- I will not allow myself to believe that I am not a true friend, or an atheist, if I refuse to forward the junk mail I receive from others. If God wants to send me a message, I believe the bushes in my yard will burn before He picks up a PC to pass it on!
- Any e-mails I receive that begin with, “THIS IS NOT A JOKE, please send this to all your friends,” I will do the SMART thing and ignore it.
- Whenever I have ANY doubt whatsoever about the authenticity of any e-mails that ask me to do anything, I will first go to the HOAXBUSTERS site, which is operated by the University of California for the U.S. Department of Energy.”
- I will look at the sender line of each email I receive and when the sender and receiver are the same person or Undisclosed Recipient will recognize this as SPAM and immediately delete it.
