In December 2014 Abynnah and Nana Darkoa Sekyiamah launched MAKSI’s first standalone shop in East Legon, Accra. After celebrating 5 years in the fashion business the label has been at the forefront of the ready to wear market in Ghana and is making waves across the continent. MAKSI has taken part in fashion shows by VLISCO and Citi Fm, and held trunk shows and pop up events in London, Antigua and Johannesburg.

To coincide with the launch of the boutique Maksi also launched their new collection, dubbed 'Sous La Mer'. The collection takes inspiration from the vibrant colours found in the ocean as well as the smooth flow of low tides. It incorporates vibrant African prints and soft flowing fabric, to give the silhouette a sensual feel.

The MAKSI fashion boutique seeks to provide customers with the opportunity to interact directly with the brand and aims to ensure a superior customer experience. Abynnah Sekyiamah, MAKSI’s Head of Creative Concepts stated, “I want people to be able to walk into the shop, try on clothing and interact with our staff whilst having an enjoyable experience. We put a lot of love into the creation of our clothing, and we want our customers to feel that same emotion when they visit us.”

When asked what the future holds for MAKSI, Nana Darkoa Sekyiamah stated, “MAKSI is moving on to bigger and better things. In 2015 we are going to start holding monthly events for our customers and friends. These can be thought of as ‘Fashion Plus’ events with a focus on entrepreneurship, sexuality and books. This will be an opportunity for our customers to not only learn about fashion, but those essential life skills that inspire us.”
