Here is my point of view regarding this article posted by Earl Ofari Hutchinson on February 1, 2013.  Click here to read the full article.

This frightening plague has gripped urban communities worse than the the most devastating disease.  Like a body needs antibiotics to fight off infection, we need more GOOD GUYS period -- to stop the BAD GUYS. Where is the weight of positive influence within our communities?

What can Obama do that Farrakhan, Sharpton, Jackson, Jealous, Morial, Smiley and West, more than 250 Black mayors, the Congressional Black Caucus, and a host of social activists cannot do to influence the culture of violence in our communities?

Maybe we are looking in the wrong places for solutions. There is a social pathology at work that has eroded the core systems that are needed to correct the course -- families, education, church, and self-esteem.  I see many committed people working hard every day to try to eradicate this plague.  It seems to be getting worse rather than better.  It is as if certain segments of our community have been quarantined to urban communities where the rest of society has given up on a cure.  This is worse than occasional suburban mass murders.  Is it a form of genocide?

I am afraid to keep thinking about this.  The scenarios keep getting worse.  God help us.
