There is an adage, which says, "When a person argues with a fool you see two fools."  In this context, both the Democratic and Republican parties have repeatedly and collectively demonstrated that neither of them deserve the political support of Black Americans and other people of color in this nation.

This week, thousands of people will descend on the small Louisiana town of Jena to take a stand against Jim Crow justice. No small town has gotten as much attention for its racial politics since Forsythe County, Georgia in the late-1980s. That, of course, was an extension of Birmingham and Selma and other small towns that became the focal points of racial injustice after local issues became national protest movements. Being under a national microscope ain’t easy when justice is being twisted. And it’s obvious justice has been twisted. Even the state of Louisiana Third Circuit Court of Appeals is saying so.

As the politics of progressivism becomes more an examination of social engineering whereby segments of society seek to establish a social pecking order based on achievement of the collective, the progress of Black America still represents the most suspect proposition. While there are more examples of black achievement on an individual basis, there is a decline in wages, jobs and wealth among African Americans in the collective.

In closing out this revealing series on trial and error, I promised to offer up an easy formula for your consideration.  Before I share such; I want to make it clear that unlike some of the politicians, preachers, professionals, and pundits - I don’t write as if my way is the way.  I have nothing to lose but ever so much to gain by understanding that your story/version is just as powerful [as mine] if not more so.  Feel free to share.

Trial and Error Tightrope

I started this series on trial and error with a strong one liner from a Baltimore Blogger (Dahgurl) and followed up with a quick piece about being stuck in a tunnel.  This series has caused several readers to weigh in with personal stories.  Some have even expressed a desire to excoriate peers that fail to appreciate their efforts.  



Remember, in all we do, our goal is to harass mediocrity.  One should not tire oneself looking for reward because of expended effort.  A focus on output is what gives successful people the room to roam. 

Trapped!

When you're working hard and nothing is coming in, you ask yourself what's the reason? Someone once told me that favor is not fair and to just be patient for my time will come. I'd already been an entrepreneurial success and wondered if I could do it again. When caught in the tunnel of trial and error exits are always positioned too far in either direction. Being trapped forces action to ooze from your intuition.

Inactivism with Comfort

In responding to one of my recent columns, someone suggested that Black people can never be of one accord because we are far too diverse.



It's an interesting concept, but one that spits in the face of our actual history and one that ignores the fact that some of us who were born in comfort have little concern for those who were not.



It is part of the American way to blame the poor and the oppressed for their condition.
