Who Are We Trying to Fool?
I like listening to my husband's stories of his childhood in the Bronx and he loves holding court telling them to me. One of my favorites is the time his father called him "sugar-coated" when he was a young man. I've since watched my husband "work a room," schmoozing everybody within reach, and I distinctly remembered when he schmoozed me – staying on my trail for two whole years before asking me out for a first date.
He also said his father would often say to him, "Who you trying to fool?" when he flipped from his everyday mode to his sugar-coated mode. Somehow, children never understand that their parents tried everything they try to get away with with their own parents; and they always, somehow, seem to know when a kid is putting on airs; putting up appearances under certain circumstances, all the while hoping that that it will lead to the conclusion or result they desire.
Transferable Prosperity
"I pray that the will of God and the destiny for your life run you down and overtake you in 2008."
Powerful words from my oldest sister. My team and I wish happiness, joy, and great health as a covering for you and your family. I hope that such becomes the concoction for transferable prosperity in the years to come. I'm excited and quite ready to deliver another year of riveting thought on Monday mornings.

Reflections on Black Group Will & Identity in the 21st Century
The issue of the character of African-American group will and identity here in the early years of the 21st century has recently received major attention through two research studies produced by the Pew Charitable Trusts and the related Pew Research Center, located in Philadelphia and Washington, D.C. The two new Pew studies are of fundamental importance to African-Americans, so I thought I'd write an essay for BlackCommentator.com containing evaluative reflections on some implications of the Pew studies for African-Americans today.

Giving Back
"It’s amazing (to me) how anyone making over $50k per year does not give back in some way. There are very few acceptable reasons why more are not enlisted in a campaign of giving back. Giving back is not difficult; it takes a desire to be unselfish. Far too many ignore that. Instead they blame the manmade version of time.”
The Hearts of Black Folk
Says Willo5899 on AOL’s Black Voices: Black Christians are the ones who give racism a weapon. First they vote in a guy, a republican, who could care less about them or any black causes. When republicans are in office, it is every man for him self. Jesus or no Jesus. Ronald Reagan could not have gotten into office except he mentioned God. Black Christians love that. The blacks ran to the poles, voted him in, he in return cut all the black caucus' out funded by the government. His slogan, "America got it's confidence back." From who? Blacks. Did the black Christians learn anything? No, double No.
