Singer/ Actress, Melba Moore Was Born On October 29, 1945.

Moore Began Her Career In 1967 When She Performed In The Musical, Hair. Three Years Later, She Won A Tony Award, For Her Portrayal Of Luttiebelle, In The Musical, Purlie.

During The 1970's Moore's Career As A Recording Artist Also Took Off.
Her 1975 Debut Album, "Peach Melba," Earned Her A Grammy Nomination For Best New Artist.

Her 1970's And 1980's Hits Include: "Lean On Me," (A Song In Which She Held A Note For 35 Seconds), "You Stepped Into My Life," "Love's Comin' At Ya," "
This Is It, " "The Greatest Feeling," "A Little Bit More" And "Read My Lips."

In 1990 She Recorded "Lift Every Voice And Sing." It is Said That Her Version Of The Song Played A Key Role In Congress Adopting It As The "Official African American National Anthem."

One Of Moore's Most Recent Film Roles Was In The Movie, The Fighting Temptations, Which Also Starred Cuba Gooding, Jr. And Beyonce Knowles.
