(BlackDoctor.org) -- Starting a new diet is the easy part. Making it work is where the trouble begins. It’s easy to become discouraged if you do not see results fast enough. There are additional techniques that you can add to your diet to amplify and expedite your results. Here are a few easy tips to keep in mind as you embark on your new weight loss program.
1. Step onto a Scale. A good way to check your progress is to remain aware of what you weigh. However, don’t become too preoccupied with numbers, especially if you are working with weights. In fact, you may actually see an increase, but don’t despair, it could just be the muscle you’re adding on.
2. Get Active. Changing the way you eat is not enough. Get off that couch and start exercising! For those who find the idea of joining a gym a little too intimidating, take advantage of the summer months and enjoy a walk outside or go swimming at the local pool. If you prefer the air-conditioned comfort of your own home, put an exercise video into the VCR and start sweating!
3. Call a Friend. Regardless of your weight loss goals, sometimes the best piece of advice is to seek moral support from others. Whether it’s someone who has similar weight loss goals, or just a friend who can offer a shoulder to lean on, their support could mean the difference between giving up and sticking with your plan.
4. Keep an Exercise Log. Chances are, if you keep a detailed log of your exercise and diet plans, you’ll be more likely to follow through in the long run.
