  • Politics Is Like Hiring A Hitman
    by Scott Woods inPolitical on2020-08-13

For me, politics is like hiring a hitman. I have values and things I care about. I care enough about them to at least bother voting for 5 minutes every year for one issue or another. And because I care at least that much, I vote for people who align with the ability to realize the things I care about.

I believe our vote is the punctuation of our voice. Without that resounding exclamation mark, I believe our voices are just incoherent noise.

  • Living in a Black No-Man's Land
by Roger Madison Jr. inOur Community on2019-10-28

There are many narratives that define the Black experience in America in this 2nd decade of the 21st century. Our striving over the centuries of our sojourn in this nation is a tapestry of every human experience -- oppression, enslavement, forced assimilation, dehumanization, exclusion, segregation, isolation, struggle, perseverance, achievement, excellence, celebration, mourning, despair, progress, setbacks, lynching, assassination, genocide, terror, self-hatred, low esteem, pride,...

  • Fighting Racism
by Scott Woods inOur Community on2018-10-25

I had a boss who was racist. Not an outright bigot, of course; her toolbox was more subtle than most. We bumped heads a lot over inconsequential things. She frequently couldn’t keep my name out her mouth. Lot of gaslighting. You know…2018 style. I tried a lot of ways to combat or navigate her issues. Out With The Old Marketing, In With The New Marketing

Some things never go out of style, such as: the comfort of wearing an old pair of jeans, the peaceful feeling of a Sunday walk in the park, the pleasure of sipping on a ice cold drink on a hot summers day, etc.

However with regard to marketing your product or service, traditional ideas have long since gone out of style. Don’t think so? Take a look at how marketing is done today. Even companies that have been around for years, and have used old methods, now see the importance of utilizing new marketing strategies. I’m not saying the old marketing methods don’t work. I’m just pointing of new marketing ideas.

The new era of marketing involves getting the customer to come to you in a different way. New marketing requires that you allow the customer to be your salesperson. You introduce your product or service, then step out of the way and let the customer sell it for you. Doing this requires you to trust what is being said about you and your company. Doing this also requires that you listen and implement change when necessary. This creates a following of customers that want what you offer and they tell everyone they know the benefits of wanting your product or service as well.

This type of marketing has worked well for several companies, such as: Zappos, Sittercity.com, Threadless.com and many more. These companies incorporated new marketing into their businesses and have experienced high revenue growth and extreme customer loyalty. All have millions of customers who regularly sell their products and services, and they gladly do so because they love what these companies do for them.

Are you still using the old methods of marketing? Maybe the time has come to incorporate new marketing ideas into your business.
