Ujamaa: Cooperative Economics
A trending phenomenon online is the focus on #BuyBlack and #BankBlack. This is important because entrepreneurship is one of the keys to Black wealth creation. This trend is being led by major Black publications, such as Ebony, Black Enterprise, TheRoot.com, Essence, and BlackPressUSA.com.
The economic health of our communities depends upon cooperative participation in the support of Black-owned businesses. When we support Black-owned businesses in our communities, it is a win-win for all of us.
THE FOURTH DAY OF KWANZAA
UJAMAA
Ujamaa (OOH-jah mah) means cooperative economics and "commits us to the principle and practice of shared work and wealth. It stresses our kinship with others and the environment and appreciation of the need for a just and equitable distribution of the good for everyone so that all can live lives of dignity and decency." Dr. Maulana Karenga
What are you doing in your community about cooperative economics?
Happy Kwanzaa!
