“I spent several years as a single parent after my divorce. I knew I
had an important job to do in raising my daughter so I dug deep down
and went back to the “old school” ways of discipline. It was the way I
had been raised and I turned out OK so I figured if it ain’t broke
don’t try to fix it. I had to let my daughter know that although I
loved and supported her, I wasn’t her friend and she was going to have
live by rules as long as she lived in my house. I also wanted her to
see, through me, that no matter what obstacles you may have to face,
you can survive.”
