I thought of this question because in the last few month we have seen the media misrepresent Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson as black leaders who speak for all African Americans which only helps to widen the racial divide. We have seen rappers denounced by a supposedly fair media that never bothered to present positive rappers, Mos Def, Common, Talib Kewli, Nas etc. We have seen the media for the most part ignore the recent case of Phylicia Moore a African American girl who died mysteriously in Ghana. I don't think the media is racist but because the majority are white they tend to focus less on African American stories and when they do tend to be ignorant as to what they are talking about. ( Don't you just hate it when a TV talking head says they spoke to a black friend and they said...) What do you think?
