BLACK WEB AWARDS.COM TO ANNOUNCE 2008 WINNERS
Free, public voting concludes on October 26, 2007

For Immediate Release

Baltimore, MD -- October 23, 2007 After receiving hundreds of thousands of votes from over 100 nations worldwide, the second annual Black Web Awards public voting period will conclude on October 26, 2007. On November 10, 2007, the top winners in each of 96 pre-established categories will be announced online at BlackWebAwards.com.

Now in its second year, the Black Web Awards is a global effort to celebrate African, African American and Caribbean excellence online. Beginning in April of 2007, the general public was invited to nominate Black themed websites in up to 96 pre-established categories including Best Black Online Newspaper, Best Hip Hop Site and Best Community Site. Three months and thousands of nominees later, each website was reviewed against a set of ten standards covering layout, cultural relevance, backend commitment, and content. The public was then invited to cast their ballots for their favorite website in each category until October 26, 2007.

Winners will be announced on BlackWebAwards.com on November 10, 2007.

A Black Web Award nomination carries with it great prestige. "Winning a Black Web Award last year helped TheSoulPitt.com and our site advertisers gain additional internet exposure and stronger credibility" said Donna M. Baxter, Founder / WebMistress for TheSoulPitt.com, a Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania based site that won the hotly contested Best Local / Community Site for East USA category the inaugural year. "Not only did it add a sense of pride for Pittsburgh's diverse community to have a local Black site win an international award, but the City of Pittsburgh recognized us as well by proclaiming Nov 17th as "Soul Day" in our city."

"TheSoulPitt.com's experience isn't unique" says Linton, "we've heard nothing but success stories from many sites who received greater web and local recognition from their nomination."

All voting is free and must be completed online through BlackWebAwards.com. Voting ends on October 26, 2007.
