Think Strategy -- Take Action

Manufacturing is at a crossroads.  Adapted from a forthcoming book Make or Break: The Future of Manufacturing, the authors say “there have never been better prospects for the makers of products than right now.”  Not convinced?  Amidst mountains of bad press a government newspaper in China printed that China's economy is expected to expand by more than 11 percent in 2008; the highest since 1995 (12/21/2007).  How about now?!?!

Manufacturing consists of establishments engaged in the mechanical, physical, or chemical (or mental) transformation of materials, substances, or components (or thoughts) into new products.  I inserted a few words in red.  More complete.  Here’s my point; we have arguably entered one of the more critical years since 2000.  The housing market, increase in 4Q07 unemployment filings, and this political campaign leave many susceptible to missing their 2008 goals!

Why you ask?  Because many will focus on the spotlight placed on the confluence of these and other events rather than personal thought.  It is ever so important that a results diagram w/ action steps be manufactured.  Sure, writing down your goals is helpful.  But this year has to be different.  Take hold, take ownership and attract urgency to your action.  Next week, developing a more emboldened system.  It’s Monday — procedure — let’s keep it moving!
