This Presidential campaign has demonstrated that politics is not a game for the faint-hearted.  Many of us are anxious, fearful, nervous -- but hopeful and prayerful of a winning outcome for Barack Obama.

Because of his brilliant organizing, the possibility of an Obama victory is palpable. Because of the racism of this country and the strong reactionary elements of the general population, the threat of a McCain victory is only too real.

Voting for Barack Obama is not enough. Through November 4, 2008 we need to put all our energy into getting out the vote to elect Obama and defeat McCain.

"Don't believe for a second this election is over. Don't think for a minute that power concedes anything. It's gonna get nasty, I'm sure, in the next four days," Obama told a crowd in Columbia, Missouri, on Thursday night.

"They will throw everything at us like they've been doing, and we're gonna have to work like our future depends on it in this last week. You know what? Because it does, and every single young person here tonight -- I've gotta have every single one of you voting, and you've gotta grab five more, all of you, have gotta vote," he said.

Here are three things you can do to help ease the anxiety:

  1. Vote early if you can.
  2. Help someone else to vote.
  3. Volunteer to take snacks and water to those waiting in long lines, so that they don't give up and leave the lines.

Overcome your anxiety with actions.
